Frequently Asked Questions

What are eaves windows?

Eaves windows are typically used as feature windows and have glass panels in the wall and roof that meet at the eaves (the lower edge of the roof), creating a continuous glass surface, allowing for an unobstructed view and maximum natural light.

Why is shading challenging for eaves windows?

Traditional shading solutions like curtains or blinds are designed for flat, vertical, or horizontal surfaces, and not for intersecting planes of eaves windows.

Can blinds be concealed in sloping roofs of any angle?

Yes. Eaves windows can be installed at angles of 90 degrees or more, with the roof glass being either more or less sloping depending on the design requirements. Tensioned shading systems work at any angle.

Can skylight blinds be used in eaves windows?

Most skylight blinds can’t be used in eaves windows. It requires the tensioning system to be all housed in the side channel as nothing can be installed where the two glass panes meet. Consult with a local shading specialist.
